The latest addition to Rosemont’s entertainment district is now officially open for business.

Sugar Factory American Brasserie has started serving such delectable dishes as red velvet pancakes and King Kong sundaes, and such cocktails as smoking candy goblets and cotton candy cosmopolitans.

The combination restaurant/bar/candy store is the first in the Chicago-area for the Las Vegas-based chain, which has locations in Las Vegas, New York City, Los Angeles and Bahrain. Sugar Factory’s first candy store opened in 2009 at the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Officials plan to open another location soon in Chicago.

Sugar Factory replaces My Big Fat Greek Restaurant, which closed a year ago after less than a year in business at Rosemont’s MB Financial Park. With the opening of Sugar Factory, all tenant spaces within the 200,000-square-foot village-owned entertainment district are currently leased out.

The restaurant had a “soft” opening last weekend with little fanfare and not much attendance, but officials are planning for more people now that they’ve begun promoting the restaurant’s opening on social media.

“We have over 120 reservations for Friday and Saturday night,” said Anna Finnegan, the restaurant’s general manager. “Now that the word is out, we’re preparing for the big time this weekend.”

A star-studded red-carpet event — par for the course for Sugar Factory openings — is planned for next month. Sugar Factory’s website says reality TV star Kylie Jenner will host. It’s unknown whether any of her other famous relatives, like Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian, will make an appearance.

“We are working with the Jenner management team to get a date,” Finnegan said. “We’re ready for them, but those girls have a very busy schedule.”

The 7,000-square-foot restaurant includes a dining room with a full bar, outdoor patio, chocolate lounge, and adjoining candy store and ice cream shop. More than 300 types of candy are available, including Sugar Factory’s signature Couture Pop, a grown-up lollipop that’s been spotted in the hands of celebrities like the Kardashians, Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Charlie Sheen.

The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. daily, and will serve brunch, lunch, dinner, and offer a late-night dining menu.
